Just Like That, I am Back

Image
If I said I was back, would you believe me? Blogging is complicated, and there are so many "get rich quick" blogging schemes that make it look like you are a lost cause if you are not currently earning money blogging. And why are you even blogging if you don't have multiple streams of income and entertainment. If you don't have a brand? I do have this website, but I do not have Instagram, Twitter, TikTok (you don't want to see me dance), or whatever is next.  Heck, I haven't even updated this since before the pandemic. So why am I here, writing about being back and then, probably ghosting for another two years? Life has been rough. It's been painful and overwhelming. I am so thankful for you my readers, or what is left of you. I am so thankful you are reading this post. I am so thankful that you are still committed to making the world a more exciting and more sustainable place.  Keep up-cycling my friends, and you never know, I might be back again with an

Open Up Space in May - Clean Out Your Makeup

So what am I doing this May?

Purging. Non-stop purgin. I have so much stuff in my home that I don't need. I want so much to make space in my home and get over my attachment to things. I love my craft supplies and I am using them, but there are things I will never use again that have to go.

I have old make-up. I mean a lot of old make-up. Do you know how long make-up lasts? I didn't until I looked it up and guess what:

  1. Concealer - Up to 12 months
  2. Powder  - 2 years (sigh of relief here because I never have powder longer than six months)
  3. Cleansers - Cream or gel 1 year.
  4. Pencil eye liner - up to 3 years
  5. Eyeshadow -  up to 3 years.
  6. Brushes - until the brisstles fall off, but you need to wash every 2-3 months in a mild detergent.
  7. Water-based Foundation- up to 12 months
  8. Oil-based Foundation - up to 18 months.
  9. Lip liner - up to 3 years.
  10. Lipstick - 3 years unless it smells then you need to toss
  11. Mascara- 4 months (ouch I have mascaras that have been hanging out in my drawers for years.)
  12. Nail Polish - 1 year
So today I am opening up space by tossing everything that does not meet these requirements. Join my as I clean up my house, get rid of stuff that really needs to go, and donate away in May!

I am right there with you, too much stuff and it has to go! If you have gently used makeup that you don't want anymore, give it to your local high school for their drama department. This is what I do and they are always thrilled to get it for their productions.

Great post! I don't think people realize how often you should switch out your cosmetics. As far as donating goes, never donate used mascara, because that's a great way to spread bacteria(that's why it has such a short shelf life.)

I did this in March - I was going to run a big "Spring Cleaning/Purging" event, but never got around to it. It's so liberating to purge!!!
