Just Like That, I am Back

Image
If I said I was back, would you believe me? Blogging is complicated, and there are so many "get rich quick" blogging schemes that make it look like you are a lost cause if you are not currently earning money blogging. And why are you even blogging if you don't have multiple streams of income and entertainment. If you don't have a brand? I do have this website, but I do not have Instagram, Twitter, TikTok (you don't want to see me dance), or whatever is next.  Heck, I haven't even updated this since before the pandemic. So why am I here, writing about being back and then, probably ghosting for another two years? Life has been rough. It's been painful and overwhelming. I am so thankful for you my readers, or what is left of you. I am so thankful you are reading this post. I am so thankful that you are still committed to making the world a more exciting and more sustainable place.  Keep up-cycling my friends, and you never know, I might be back again with an...

Welcome Melissa from Hooked on Handmade

Allow me to introduce my lovely crafty blogging friend Melissa and her trusty sidekick Kade from Hooked on Handmade:

I am not quite sure if it is the stripy shirt or the glasses, but I think we look like long lost sisters?

Anyway she about to embark on another challenge and it's called a square a day in May. Check out more information here:
Today she will be sharing her tutorial for her "Bee in Love Mason Jar." Ironically my daughter is obsessed with bee's right now. (maybe we really are sisters?)

1. What made you decide to sign up for the Spring Stashbust?

Two reasons. My stash is in some serious need of some busting. Not only do I collect way to much yarn but I have mason coming out of everywhere! I've been working hard making squares for the CAL I'm organizing in May and my stash is going down down down! It has been great because I'm able to participate in this event while getting ready for my own event. Also, I'm new to blogging and want to get my stuff out there and learn from other bloggers.

2. What are your favorite Upcycling projects

My favorite up-cycling projects are ones that are simple fast and fun. I also love to included my son in crafting and hope that seeing me craft as much as I can will make him want to craft too!

3. Any crafty earthday tips?

My favorite crafty activities are ones that I can involves my son! He loves doing anything crafty and taking something old and making it new, so up-cycling is right up his alley. We haven't decided yet what crafty things we will be doing for earth day but I think it is important to talk about reusing and up-cycling everyday with him. Some days it seems like a battle but when he puts something in the recycling bin or his craft table instead of the garbage, I'm so proud!

4. Why do you blog?

Because it is fun! And addictive! I have been crafting since I was a kid but have no record of it. In the last few months I've been taking lots of pictures of the stuff I make and put them on my blog. Now I have a living record of my craftiness and it is wonderful. I also love having a connection to other crafty bloggers through my blog. I live in a small community and there aren't many crafters that I've met but in the blog world, I can meet crafters from anywhere! I love that!

5. What is your inspirations?

I know it is corny, but my son is a big inspiration to me. He has so much energy and, at 4.5, lives everyday to the fullest. I love creating things for him and making him proud of his mama. I also find inspiration from other crafty people. I've always had a crafty mind, and have spent my life saying "I could make that", now I do and it feels amazing.

6. Anything else?

I just want to thank Robin for putting this whole thing together! I've been looking at my stash and wanting to get rid of it but I don't know if I would have done it on my own! Robin inspired me to think inside of my stash and come up with a way for me (and others) to get rid of the old to make room for the new. If it wasn't for her and Adaiha over at "things to make and do" I don't know if I would have come up with my Square a Day....My crafty online lady friends rock!

So check out her Bee in Love Mason Jar over at Hooked on Handmade and see the fabulous handmade stashbusting crafts she has been conquering:
